Pinot Noir 2006

Elegant rose-petal aromas and a juicy, wet, spicy finish.

Tasting Notes

Harvest Moon employs "on time" harvesting, in which the fruit is picked relatively earlier than typical in order to preserve the delicately perfumed rose-petal aromas and juicy, wet, spicy finish. We feel these approximately 400 cases represent an elegant approach to an elegant variety... Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.

Winemaker Notes

This fruit came off three small young vineyards on Willowside and river roads. With heavy early-morning fog still lingering, our Pinot fruit was some of the first picked in 2006. At the crush pad, 2/3 of the fruit was destemmed, and the other 1/3 of the lot was placed in an open-top fermentor whole-cluster, allowing for more tannin structure and spice. Upon fermenting dry, the lot was pressed-off and racked twice, then barreled into new French Latour oak, where they sat undisturbed for several months. From that point on, the wine was moved via gravity to prevent unnecessary oxygen exposure. We bottled the wine unfiltered and unfined in July 2008. Cellar for 8-10 years.
