Grower & Winemaker's Notes

This fruit came from three small vineyards on Willowside, Olivet and River Roads. With heavy early morning fog still lingering, our Pinot fruit was some of the first Pinot vineyards picked in 2006.  We enjoy our Pinot Noir at the nightly dinner table so it's important to pick the fruit with life still in the grape, i.e. lower sugars, more natural acidity and less skin shrivel. Upon fermenting dry, the lots were moderatley pressed to barrel, where they sat undisturbed for several months. From that point forward, the wine was gently moved via gravity to prevent unnecessary oxygen exposure. After a full 20 months in the barrel, the wine was blended and bottled unfiltered and unfined in late July 2008. Enjoy for 8-10 years.

Tasting Notes

Harvest Moon employs on-time harvesting whereas the fruit is picked earlier than typical in order to preserve the delicate perfumed rose-pedal aromas and juicy wet spicy finish that lies in every bottle. With a few short years in the cellar, the dusty cherry aromas and tart cranred flavors will take their place with seamless integration into a beautifully rich, complex Pinot Noir.
