Russian River Pinot Noir
An elegant approach to an elegant variety…
Our approach to Pinot Noir grown in the Russian River is non-interventionist in nature. As growers for most of the Pinot Noir fruit we craft into wine, we tend to focus our energy and attention on the cultivation of the grape while keeping our hands off once the fruit arrives at the crush pad. The clusters are gently destemmed and crushed via gravity into 3/4 ton T-bin fermentors where natural yeast begin fermentation. Pressed directly to barrel, the freshly fermented wine sits on heavy lees until secondary fermentation is complete. Our Pinot Noir is aged for 16 to 20 months in French barrels of which many are neutral, seasoned barrels. Lower in alcohol and high in acidity, our lighter bodied yet amazingly vibrant Pinots are welcome at any table. With spicy rose pedal aromas and bright, juicy red and dark berry fruits, our Pinot Noir is tasty now but will benefit from up to a decade in the cellar. Fewer than 500 cases annually produced.
